What is Tibetan Cranial®?

TC logo 1

Tibetan Cranial® is an ancient healing modality that was almost lost to our world. It has a rich and ancient history that originated in the Himalayan highlands about 3,000 years ago. This sacred knowledge is not merely a method of anatomy; it is a lineage of sacred knowledge that has been passed down through generations of Buddhist Monks.

Tibetan Cranial is a body based practice (performed on the neck and cranium) which involves a critical perception of numerous pulses. By tuning into specific pulses, the practitioner can sense what the body needs and provide the space for the body to shift on its own toward balance, health and harmony. It is designed to realign and restore our inherent capacity for self healing. It carries the potential of transformation at many levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

People have reported relief from a wide variety of conditions: chronic pain, nervous system disorders, headaches, concussions, TMJ, anxiety/depression, sleep disorders, dizziness, to name a few.

Balance

From the Buddhist perspective, all human beings are the authors of their own health and healing. This philosophy forms the backbone of Tibetan Cranial as well.  Because Tibetan Cranial developed in Tibet’s spiritual environment, this work goes beyond the body not just to the mind, but also offers the potential to enhance spiritual awareness.

Tibetan Cranial helps the body in correcting its own imbalances so that it can heal itself. Unlike many other systems, Tibetan Cranial does not focus on a specific disease or diagnosis, but aids in restoring overall balance. Because the work helps to restore the person’s own ability to regain balance, chronic pain and other issues may resolve, and well-being, health and wholeness improve.

Tradition

Tibetan Cranial known traditionally as “Thoba Khujatag”, was developed in Tibetan monasteries and has passed directly from teachers to apprentices over thousands of years.  Today’s practitioners continue the tradition by developing the ability to hold a sacred state of mantra or prayer necessary to tune into the needs of the individual.  Sophisticated pulse readings provide the means to deliver the most appropriate treatment.  This approach allows for harmony, or “bya-grub ye-shes” (accomplishing deep awareness).

What happens during a TC Treatment?

Tibetan Cranial takes place in quiet setting. The recipient reclines on a specially designed Tibetan Cranial table.

It is best to wear comfortable exercise clothes or other clothing without zippers or belt loops. Jewelry and other metal should be removed. On the day of your session, avoid caffeine and any elective medication such as ibuprofen or aspirin. Please inform the practitioner if you have had caffeine or taken any medication. Finally, please do not eat right before the appointment

During the session, the practitioner works on the head and neck, using pulses to help the body achieve an optimal balance. In addition, both the practitioner and the recipient create and hold a sacred time and space, giving rise to the work’s strong spiritual component.

The work concludes with a sealing process followed by a period of quiet relaxation. This short rest allows the recipient to fully integrate the work.

The Recipient should walk for a few minutes immediately after the session and pay extra attention to staying hydrated.

Because Tibetan Cranial® helps the natural healing processes, it is not unusual for improvement to continue days or weeks after a session. Recipients may receive a single session or may decide to experience multiple sessions over time. Traditional practice involved 5 to 7 consecutive daily sessions, with each session enhancing the recipient’s equilibrium.
